Review and Giveaway!
It’s fitting that my first review of the New Year is for a book with “royal” flare. As I was trying to come up with my author tagline, a phrase encompassing the essence of what and why I write, I finally came up with one I love!
Happily Ever After is Never Far Away
I’m a princess at heart. Give me Disney movies (I cry at the end of most of them), tiaras and tutus, and tea and crumpets any day. My girls have, of course, inherited my love for castles and knights on white horses. My five year old in particular could be dubbed our family’s “Fancy Nancy”, if you will.
All that aside, the true awesomeness of it all is that “Happily Ever After” doesn’t have to stay in the fantasy world. “Happily Ever After” is available to those who answer the call of the King.
“And I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters,” says YHWH Almighty. ~ 2 Corinthians 6:18
This chapter in 2 Corinthians talks about being separate, for we are the temple of the living Elohim. Just like royalty, as those grafted into the tree of Israel, we are called to a higher purpose. We are called to behave as sons and daughters of the King of Kings. We are expected to do things differently. That may mean missing out on some things of this world, but it also means receiving the blessings intended for those who walk in His ways.
“Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of YHWH.” ~ Psalm 119:1
Let us live as Princes and Princesses whose lives reflect our Father—the King of Kings.
God’s Little Princess Bedtime Devotional by Sheila Walsh
When I received this sweet devotional from Tommy Nelson Mommy by daughter’s exact words were, “Oooh! It has real jewels on the front!”
I told you she was a princess.
Sheila Walsh’s newest treasure featuring the beloved Gigi, everyone’s favorite princess, is full of scriptures, prayers, ideas, and activities that are perfect for bedtime. The pastel illustrations aren’t too bright, which I love! When we’re winding down for the night I like everything to be soothing and peaceful, from bath time to story time. We try to choose books that don’t require loud character voices, but ones about getting ready for bed, saying our prayers, or wishing each other “goodnight”.
God’s Little Princess Bedtime Devotional includes a subject index in the back. I like this feature because sometimes things come up during the day that require a little extra attention. Did your child have a rough day in the obedience department? Turn to page 86 and read about “Obeying Right Away”. Is your child dealing with fear issues? Turn to page 44 for the story of how Yeshua (Jesus) calmed the storm. There’s a little bit of everything in this book. I also love the handy ribbon bookmark so we don’t lose our place!

S
