“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
Sometimes you can’t see something in yourself until you find out that someone else deals with a similar issue. This past weekend my husband’s siblings and their families came into town. I just love when this happens because it means “girl time”. We talk. We laugh. We relate. What are sisters for, right?
“Is it more important that my toilet is clean, or is it more important that I sit and read to my kids?” she said (or something to that effect).
And God said, “Sara, that’s not homeschooling.”
Every family and every situation is different. For me personally, I realized that I was not following through with the commitment I made to homeschool. I was not actively teaching and engaging with my child. Just because I am blessed with a self-motivated child who does really well on her own does not mean I get a “get out of homeschool free card”. What my sister said made me realize that my house may not be ready for a Better Homes and Gardens Shoot, but my daughter will look back and remember that we read together for an hour everyday.
