“This Little Light of Mine” was always one of my favorite songs as a girl. As an amateur performer in Christian Youth Theater, I even sang it for an audition for “Charlotte’s Web”. I was only seven at the time, but I sang it bold and loud, not caring about the strange looks I was getting from people in the audience. Other parents knew well enough to have their children sing show tunes for an audition, but not me and my mom. We grabbed the track from a cassette tape of some kid’s gospel choir album and that was that.
I look back on that time now and yearn for that kind of attitude. It was a time when I felt free, unburdened by embarrassment or the political correctness that floods our society today. Kids tell it like it is. Oh, to be like my four-year-old and be able to ask people straight out, “So, do you know Jesus?” or “Are you going to heaven?”

Here’s Noelle looking into the “mirror” she made for the “Bright Idea” section of the first devotion in the book.
Teaching our Littles to shine their lights is a daily practice. I love Sheila Walsh’s God’s Little Angel: Shine Your Light Devotional for this very reason. Though everything of Sheila’s that I have read has been a treasure, this one in particular has to be my favorite. With memory verses, new words to learn, prayer prompts, and activities and ideas that go along with the lessons, this addition to the God’s Little Angel series is sure to have your little angel letting her light shine.
Where would your kids most like to have an angel with them?

My daughter would probably answer her bedroom. Whe still gets scared at night.
My daughter gets scared at night too. I remember that from when I was young. Isn’t it funny how we once depended on our parents to chase the monsters away and now we’re the ones who do it?
I think my daughter would like to have an angel with her anytime mom and dad aren’t with her.
Mine would too! Most definitely:)
Anytime her mom was away, or she went on a “scary ride” XD 🙂
My girls are “mama’s girls” too, Lydia:)
My daughter would probably like an angel with her when she’s feeling sad.
I think I would too, Lynnae:)
Definitely in their rooms at night.
I would love to win this book for my daughter!
It’s definitely a good one, Heather:) Good luck!
My daughter would probably like an angel with her while she’s riding her bike – she’s still learning and she needs lots of comfort!
Yes, we all have those moments in where we are a bit uneasy about trying s something new, Chris. Mine is getting ready to learn bike riding too, in fact. I’ll be praying for comfort for her (and you) while she learns.
They would say they need an angel at night time. They are all afraid of the dark!
If I’m being honest, Mindy, I’m a bit afraid of the dark too. Can’t wait fir eternity where the Bible promises there is only light 🙂
In her room at night! 🙂
Seems to be the popular place, Isomar:)
When she’s out on her own–she tends to be a little carefree.
Mine tends to be that way too, Ree What ever happened to the days she refused to leave my side?.
When she is at school!
Good one, Laura. I always had a hard time with bullies.
With her friends, knowing how to make the right choices.
That’s a great place! We could all use a little help with that I think:)
