Plus a Tommy Nelson Giveaway!
Those first words your little one says are the most precious sounds to a parent. “Mama” and “Dada” are some of the first and then come “No”, “Bye-bye” and “Hi”, to name a few. Before I was a mom, I never knew how exciting it could be to hear my babies utter a new word for the first time. If you’re a parent, you know what I’m talking about.
The other day, I was unloading groceries from the car. My husband came out to help (as this wonderful man always does), and decided to occupy our crying 11-month-old for me while I emptied the trunk in peace. We have an outdoor cat and she came up to my husband, begging for attention like the spoiled thing she is. He was showing our youngest the “kitty” and what do you think came out of her mouth?
“Kitty, Kitty!” (actually it sounded more like “Key, Key!”, but you get the idea)
Now, every time we venture into our yard I call our cat, just to hear my sweet baby girl utter those words again. It is so much fun to watch her learn and grow in this way. I can hardly believe she’ll be 1 soon!
Board books are the best, aren’t they? Our drooling, slobbering toddlers can chew on them, pull on them, stand on them, and even smear mashed potatoes on them and, for the most part, they wipe clean, surviving the wear and tear much longer than a paper book would. Since my youngest is infatuated with “kitties” right now, I was so excited to receive a set of board books for review all about pets.
Thank You, God, for Kittens and Thank You, God, for Puppies are two colorful board books that are great for growing littles. My favorite part is that these books feature real life photos of puppies and kittens, rather than cartoon ones. I can point out different types of kittens and puppies and teach about colors (eyes and fur), play, sleep, and how animals are a lot like people. They need sleep, food, and special love and attention, just like we do. These books are small and easy for little hands to grasp. Great for on the go or car trips, these books won’t take up too much room in the diaper bag.
Summer is coming and that means vacation! I always love to fill a tote of books and toys whenever we go out of town. I’m sure you do to so I am giving away one of these darling board books, courtesy of Tommy Nelson. Just mention in a comment which book you would like to win and why, then use the Rafflecopter to earn other entries, too!
Enter now through Monday, May 20th. I’ll pick and email a winner on Tuesday, May 21st.
Until then, Happy Reading!
Yours in Christ,
S

Goodness, I would love either for my kiddos! It’s hard to pick just one! My 2-year-olds are learning about animals and what sounds they make, so pictures of real dogs or cats would be helpful!

Animal sounds are so fun! Right now my youngest sticks out her tongue and pants to say “dog” 🙂
