Review and Giveaway!
Can’t-Wait Willow! , by Christy Ziglar, is the new book from Shine Bright Kids that teaches kids about patience.
The Over-the-Top-Circus is in town and Willow just can’t wait to see it! But what happens when the ice cream truck rides down her street or when Willow’s friends set up a lemonade stand? Will Willow be able to say no the little things so she can save her money for the big thing she’s been waiting for?
Why I love this book…
I love the big, bright, “over-the-top” illustrations by Luanne Marten. Can’t-Wait Willow! is so much fun, kids won’t know they’re getting lessons in patience and saying “no”. Just a few pages into the book my five-year-old was already saying the phrase “But Willow just couldn’t say no!” She really got into the book and because of this she was able to explain the lesson to me in the end. When books have a repetitive phrase like this one, I think it makes it easy for kids to remember and follow along. As soon as I finished reading my daughter asked if I would read it to her again. I did, and after that she was reading it to her little sister.
Another unique feature in Can’t-Wait Willow! is the little yellow star you’ll find on every page. Your kids will have fun searching for the star throughout the story. If Willow makes a poor decision, the star looks sad. If she makes a good choice, the star is happy and bright. This is just another great teaching tool you will find in this fun book. I am so excited it’s the first in a series. I can’t wait to see what’s next from Shine Bright Kids.
Recommendation…
I recommend Can’t-Wait Willow! to parents of girls and boys alike. My five-year-old is a good age for this story, but I also think younger ones will enjoy it too, just like my one-year-old does. It comes with a dust jacket and would make a special birthday or “just because” gift.

That’s a tough one. To make my kids more patient, we focus on the end result.

Good idea, focusing on the end result. If I could just be patient enough with my kids to get there lol:)

I just talk with them, not give in to tantrums, reward for positive attitudes and patience.
