Whoever invented board books had moms in mind. Washable, durable, portable—board books are one of the best inventions ever!
First thing every morning my own tenacious almost-two-year-old brings me something from her board book collection. She stands on them, chews on them, picks them up by the pages. While they have definitely seen better days, these books are still alive and kicking (so to speak). After my kids are done with them, I go around and pick up the pieces, taping pages together or wiping chocolate goo off of them if needed. At the end of the day, they get what I call “the mom treatment”—I renew them, making them ready to withstand another chaotic day.
And that’s who Messiah is.
We get stepped on, bitten, shaken, and torn by all of life’s ups and downs. But, at the end of the day, Yeshua picks us up and wipes away the yuck. He puts us back together, providing us with the rest we need to be able to withstand another day.
He is Jehovah Rapha—our healer.
“If you will diligently listen to the voice of YHWH your Elohim, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am YHWH, your healer (Rapha).” Exodus 15:26
Little Seed: A Life
I had the pleasure of introducing you to a new line of board books from Graham Blanchard and Callie Grant last October. These books have been created for the purpose of teaching little ones about who the Creator is.
Little Seed: A Life is a colorful, fully illustrated board book that explains about how seeds grow into plants—from the inside out! It takes lots of time for a seed to become what it was meant to be. This story is a great resource for parents teaching children about Elohim’s plans and purpose. Just like the little seed, children take time to grow into who they were created to be. As parents, it is our job to help nourish and train our kids, guiding them as they grow to be disciples for the Messiah. I love this book because it is simple and informative. the concept is easy for little minds to grasp and understand.
Close as a Breath
“Papa, is the air there?”
My youngest loves to be read the story Close as a Breath in which a little girl and her Papa go for an autumn stroll. She will bring this book to me and say “Papa, Papa!” We love to snuggle on the couch and read about how our amazing Creator is everywhere, in the air and trees, in the seasons and the stars. If we look at all He created, we will see Him. Filled with rhymes and the beautiful illustrations I have come to love in the Graham Blanchard board books, Close as a Breath is the perfect, soothing bedtime story for you and your littles.
Jesus Saves Me: Knowing My God series
Introducing children to the Messiah is so important, which is why I love the Knowing My God series from Graham Blanchard and Callie Grant. These board books contain full color photographs, scripture snippets, and simple explanations that bring children to a better understanding of who Yeshua is. Jesus Saves Me focuses on the Shepherd and His sheep, giving the perfect, Biblical illustration of what our relationship with Messiah looks like. He knows who are His and He lays down His life for His own. I love this verse the book quotes:
“They too will listen to my voice, and there will be one flock and one shepherd.” John 10:14-16
What a beautiful picture of how believers are all part of the same flock, having been grafted into the tree of Israel.

I think the simplicity! It’s not extremely fancy drawings, but it conveys such a powerful message for children which is the most important thing!

For every type of personality there are different scenes and foods to enjoy.

What inspires me that it is so uniquely planned by our God. All the colors, animals, plants, mountains, rocks, etc were put in Gods creation for us to enjoy and remember to praise our Creator for this great gift He has given us. We should also remember that each of us are fearfully and wonderfully made and we, His people, are part of His greatest creation and we should praise and honor Him in all we say and do.

Amen, Merry! I couldn’t have said it better:)
