About Vanquished…
When Hana’s mom is diagnosed with the mutation, she is denied the medication that might save her life. Fischer, a medic at the hospital, implies there are people who can help—except Hana’s not sure she can trust him; Fischer is involved in a religious group, and religion has been outlawed for the last hundred years. Hana embarks on a dangerous journey, seeking the answers Fischer insists are available. When the truth is uncovered does Hana stick to what she knows? Or does she join the rebellion, taking a stand against an untrustworthy society?
Q&A with Katie Clark…
Angela asks, “What advice do you have for newbie writers?”
Don’t rush the washing machine. I found out the hard way that taking your time (way more time than I wanted to take) produced better work. I definitely tried rushing everything, from my writing to my editing to my subbing, and I’m sure I scared away agents and editors who would have otherwise been interested.
Zekkaina S. asks, “What is the most unique author experience you’ve had so far?”
That’s a hard one! I can think of a few of my favorites (like my 4-year-old telling me she wanted to be a “booker” when she grew up, just like me!), but thinking of the most unique is a bit more difficult. I would say one of the most unique was when a writer I’d met online found out I would be vacationing in his area, and asked if I’d put on a writer’s workshop while there. I agreed, and it went really well. In fact, it was fun, and a great experience!
Christen K. asks, “What’s your normal writing day look like?”
A normal writing day for me includes writing a chapter in my WIP, writing articles for the local magazine I work for, and doing social media stuff (probably way too much of the latter, I admit). I don’t do them in any certain order, just whatever I’m in the mood for, but I always make sure to get them each done. And I work from my couch, for what it’s worth.
Zekkaina S. asks, “Do you prefer book tours or online interaction with readers?”
Definitely online interaction! This is mostly because I’m afraid of meeting people (ha!), but I like getting to know someone, and I can do that over time with online interaction.
Laura P. asks, “Since it’s football season, who is your favorite team?”
Oooohh, not a great question for me. We aren’t sports watchers in my family (sorry to disappoint). If I had to choose, I’d say “We Are Pennstate” for my dad, and “War Eagle!” for my hubby’s dad.
Thanks so much for taking time to share on the blog today, Katie! It was a pleasure to have you.
