Greetings, Book Nerds!
It’s Wednesday and you know what that means. It’s time for Waiting on Wednesday, an event in which a bunch of us bookish weirdos post about an upcoming release we’re anxiously anticipating. Thanks to Breaking the Spine for hosting!
This week’s pick is Vanishing Girls by Lauren Oliver!
Vanishing Girls is the latest from the greatest! New York Times bestselling author Lauren Oliver hasn’t let her readers down yet. I love, love, LOVE every book she writes, not only from a reader’s POV, but from a writing standpoint as well. In fact, you can read all my raves about her in my post entitled What I’ve Learned from Lauren Oliver.
In Vanishing Girls, Dara and Nick used to be inseparable, but that was before the accident that left Dara’s beautiful face scarred and the two sisters totally estranged. When Dara vanishes on her birthday, Nick thinks Dara is just playing around. But another girl, nine-year-old Madeline Snow, has vanished, too, and Nick becomes increasingly convinced that the two disappearances are linked. Now Nick has to find her sister, before it’s too late.
In this edgy and compelling novel, Lauren Oliver creates a world of intrigue, loss, and suspicion as two sisters search to find themselves, and each other.
My Thoughts…
This book sounds like it will have me on the edge of my seat, up at all hours of the night, prying my eyelids open and chugging coffee just so I can keep reading. One of my all time favorite books is Lauren Oliver’s Before I Fall, so if Vanishing Girls delivers a similar dose of thought provocation and nail-biting twists, I have no doubt I’ll be raving about this read for years to come.
Vanishing Girls releases March 10, 2015 from HarperCollins. Pre-order a copy of Vanishing Girls here.

Please note that Vanishing Girls is a novel originally published by HarperCollins, in 2012, by Katia Lief. Some of my readers have expressed confusion, since it’s the same title and the same publisher, and so I am spreading the word.
“Vanishing Girls is powerful, provocative, and pulsating with verve; it also marks an evolution of character and circumstance that should serve the series well in future installments. Further, Karin Schaeffer is both complex and compelling, and arguably one of the strongest female figures in contemporary crime fiction—and her absolute strength of will is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.”
