Summer parties are the best! Icy cold drinks, pool parties, and popsicles are just a few ways to cool down. The season has just begun, so what better way to celebrate than to throw a splashin’ summer smash?
Our youngest just turned 1, and for her birthday we went all out in “Under the Sea” style. From “Seafoam Punch” to beach ball decor, this party was a hit with guests of all ages.
Themed food is an easy and fun way to add a little something extra to your party.
We also served Chef Louie’s Seaweed Salad (a spinach salad with toppings of your choosing), King Triton’s Un-Sunken Treasure (Captain Crunch Crunch Berries Cereal ), Flounder’s School of Fish (Rainbow Goldfish), Shark Teeth (Mozzarella cheese cut into triangles- I got the idea from Love the Day), Ariel’s Seashell Pasta (mini shell pasta in Alfredo sauce), and Prince Eric’s Landlubber Linguine (Linguine noodles in spaghetti sauce). You can really turn any food into a “themed food” if you think creatively! Oh, and don’t forget the “Dingle-hoppers”!
To give our kitchen an under water feel, I hung beach balls (thanks Party Frosting for the idea!) and twirly Little Mermaid decorations to look like hanging seaweed.
Music makes the difference! Check out my Beach Party Playlist on Spotify. Its got a little something for everyone on it.
To thank everyone for coming, I made some really cute shovel and pail party favors (Kudos to Creative Party Place for the idea!). You can fill them with anything you like! I put in bubbles, individual Goldfish Snacks, and Finding Nemo Fruit Snacks. So there was no dispute over who got which bucket, I wrote each child’s name on theirs beforehand.

This week’s featured posts…
Remember the idea I got for Shark Teeth? Well, Love the Day has lots of great other ideas for a boy themed “Under the Sea” party. From a squid cake to crab plates, party stylist Lindi Haws knows how to do it right!
It’s a “whale” of a party over at Creative Party Place. It’s where I got my pail and shovel party favor idea, but the ideas don’t stop there. Sea animal lollipops and foam sunglasses are just a taste of what you’ll find on this awesome blog!
You gotta love the whole beach balls hanging from the ceiling idea. Party Frosting has tons of others too. If you don’t believe me, surf on over and find out. Cowabunga, dude!
