Have you ever felt like you are in a never ending rut? One day runs into the next. You know Yahweh loves you, but you just aren’t “feelin’ it”? The joy you once found in the King has drifted, and you, in turn, feel as if you are drifting.
I have felt this way lately. In the craziness of life, I feel like I am just “going through the motions” sometimes.
And then Elohim reminds me of Hagar.
The woman who named Him “El Roi” or “Elohim sees”, Hagar was in a rut if ever there was one. Hated by Sarah, bearing the son of a man who did not love her, Hagar was rejected and alone.
Except she wasn’t.
Elohim saw Hagar. In her rut, He saw and He provided. Sometimes it comes in the form of a still small voice whispering across the paths of your heart. Other times it comes in the form of a phone call from a friend or in a song on the radio. For me, today it came in a few ways.
First, this happened to be a rare morning when I got up for my quiet time and my girls actually stayed asleep. For a whole extra hour they slept and I was able to read my Bible and listen to worship music without interruption. As I listened to Darlene’s Zschech’s Revealing Jesus CD, one lyric kept showing up in the songs, one that played over and over in my mind.
Hallelujah!
I think so many times we sing Hallelujah without really thinking about what it means. It actually means “Praise Yah” or “Praise Yahweh.” Over and over the lyric played, reminding me of Who everything is really all about. It’s all about Him. No matter how I feel, He remains, constant and faithful. Hallelujah for His unfailing love!
I also heard Him speak to me through Darlene’s Revealing Jesus devotion for the day. It was entitled “I Love Your Word”. The devotion was about the Holy Spirit living inside of me, helping me to understand His Word.
Have you ever felt inadequate? Like you don’t really measure up? I still haven’t finished college, and the “novel” I am writing seems to be gathering dust by the day. Will I ever accomplish my goals? Where does the time go?
This is exactly how I was feeling this morning when these words stood out to me on the page of Darlene’s devotional:
“When we hold fast to and meditate on the words of the Bible, we are given insights and understanding; we are taught how to walk wisely in order to avoid evil; we are taught obedience; and life in Christ is modeled for us continually.” (Revealing Jesus, June 24)
I may not be a scholar or a Bible school graduate, but as a believer in Yeshua I have been given the tools I need for wisdom and understanding—the Holy Spirit alongside Elohim’s Word. No degree or amount of schooling can measure up to the knowledge and wisdom of my Creator.
Thirdly, Elohim spoke to me through my sweet five-year-old. So eager to read her Bible, she pulled it out this morning and just began reading out loud. Out of the mouths of babes, right? She was reading an entry entitled “How Do I Know Jesus Loves Me?” As she read, I realized that though what she was reading was written in a child’s terms, it was exactly what I needed to hear. I may be a mother of two, but I am still a child in Elohim’s eyes. Sometimes we all just need to hear that He loves us. It’s as simple as that.
Darlene Zschech’s Revealing Jesus CD is a great resource if you need reminding that your Maker loves you. The overall theme of the twelve songs included on the CD seemed to be, “God is here, revealing Himself to us. He wants to be our everything, the Center of our lives”. My favorite song on the CD is one I have heard many times. “Your Name” is a great reminder of Who is really in charge. If you’ve never heard it, the chorus goes like this:
Your Name
Is a strong and mighty tower
Your Name
Is a shelter like no other
Your Name
Let the nations sing it louder
‘Cause nothing has the power to save
But Your Name
Recently my husband has been doing some studying about the name YHWH. All Hebrew names have meaning, down to the very letters that form them. The Name YHWH in Pictographic Hebrew (see image above) literally means (read from right to left) “Hand Behold, Nail Behold” or “The Right Arm of Elohim Saves and Covers Man”. In turn, the Name “Yeshua” means “YHWH Saves”. It amazes me how Elohim is in the details. The Father’s name points to the Son’s, and the Son’s to the Father’s. Knowing this gives new meaning to the lyrics of “Your Name”.
Darlene’s Beautiful voice and clear heart for worship emanates through the speakers as you listen to her sing. Revealing Jesus is a great companion to Darlene’s devotional and also stands great on its own. What better way to fall into His arms than in devoted worship? Crank up the volume, and abandon yourself to Him. He sees you. Never doubt for a second that this is true. No matter where you find yourself today, in a rut or dancing on a mountaintop, Elohim sees you. He is speaking to you. Are you listening?
