Leslie Gould’s second installment in the Courtships of Lancaster County series is Romeo and Juliet, but with a much better ending. Adoring Addie is a story of forgiveness and how love can overcome anything. Two households, the Mosiers and the Cramers, have been at odds for years. But what happens when a Cramer and a Mosier fall for each other? Will they be able to convince their parents to reconcile against all odds? Jonathan adores Addie, but will their secret relationship come at a horrible price?
What I liked…
I enjoyed how Leslie Gould took a classic story, told over and over again throughput the years, and made it her own. A story like Romeo and Juliet has the potential to be overdone, but Leslie brings a fresh look to the tragic tale. Sparks still fly and grudges still stand, but with Leslie’s take comes pure love (no bedroom scene in this one) and mended hearts (you’ll have a smile on at the end). I wasn’t sure what to expect, and have to admit I was delightfully surprised with Adoring Addie, the love that blossomed, the friendships made, and the forgiveness shown. I really enjoyed Courting Cate, the first book in the series, so I knew I just had to give Adoring Addie a try. While Courting Cate is my favorite of the two so far, I found Adoring Addie a pleasant and heartwarming read, perfect for a lazy summer afternoon sipping an iced latte on my porch swing.
Recommendation…
Leslie Gould writes clean and for the heart. I love the romance and charm of her Amish novels and will continue to read her work in the future. I recommend Adoring Addie to any gal who is looking for a good book about faith and love overcoming the odds.
