Review and eBook giveaway!
Cathy Bryant’s fourth installment in the Miller’s Creek series, Pilgrimage of Promise , is a true to life story set in the heart of Texas. Filled with relatable characters and Biblical truths,Pilgrimage of Promise brings new meaning to what it really means to trust in God’s ways, and not our own.
Welcome to Miller’s Creek, a place where love trumps heartbreak and broken promises are made new. Mona Beth doesn’t want to face the fact that her beloved Bo will soon be leaving this earth. Bo wants to open up past pain so that healing can begin to happen, but Mona Beth is fighting it with everything in her. Why should she read the letters? They’re only going to open old wounds and make her last days with Bo all the more painful.
What I liked…
For me,Pilgrimage of Promise was Karen Kingsbury meets Nicholas Sparks. Reminiscent of Spark’s The Notebook and Kingsbury’s Remember and Forever Faithful Series, Cathy’s novel truly touched my heart. I really identified with Mona Beth and how she didn’t want to let go, how she wasn’t ready for death to take a loved one away. I enjoyed how the novel was set partly in the past and partly in the present, allowing the little mysteries to unfold naturally as the story progressed. Cathy’s writing is descriptive and really drew me into each time and place she described. I enjoyed watching how Bo and Mona Beth fell in love, while at the same time getting to know them as an old married couple. This structure added depth to the characters and story. I could tell that the author took time to plan and get to know her characters before putting pen to paper.
Recommendation…
Pilgrimage of Promise is another one to add to your summer reading list. If you enjoy stories about romantic love, as well as ones about the love of our Creator, then I believe you will enjoy Pilgrimage of Promise. Sometimes the best books are the ones you least expect. Now I’ll have to go back and read the other three novels in the Miller’s Creek Series. One book just isn’t enough of Cathy’s characters. If you want to read the series then you know it’s good!
About the Author…
Cathy’s desire is to write heart-stirring stories about God’s life-changing grace. Her first novel, Texas Roads, was a 2009 American Christian Fiction Writers’ Genesis finalist. Her second novel, A Path Less Traveled , was published in 2010. The Way of Grace , the third book in the Miller’s Creek novels was released in 2012, and Pilgrimage of Promise was released in 2013. A native Texan, Cathy currently resides in the beautiful Ozark mountains of northwest Arkansas with her husband of thirty years, and near the world’s cutest grandson and granddaughter. She’ll be moving to New Mexico in the near future.

My favorite bible promise is that God will never leave us. No matter how long it has been since I’ve checked in with Him. He is always there waiting for me.
