“And he said to them, ‘Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation’.” Mark 16:15 ESV
I look outside my window and see a storm blowing in. It’s the kind of day when I love to curl up on the couch with a good book, and that’s exactly what I did…sort of.
We use the Sonlight curriculum for homeschool and with it comes a lot of reading. Today we learned about a man named William Carey, referred to in our book as “the father of modern missions”. (I Heard Good News Today, p. 37) William Carey, we read, was one of the most unlikely men to become a missionary. He was no one special and not well built or particularly handsome. And yet he stood up for what he believed in. William Carey was determined to take a stand for Christ, to share with others the good news of the Gospel.
Do you ever look at someone in the mission field and think, “Wow! That person is a true disciple. I wish I could do that!”? The truth is we can all be missionaries in our own backyards. Our hometowns and cities and states need just as many disciples for Elohim as those in other countries do.
Is there an opportunity you are missing? Where could you be used to spread the love of Christ?
Your workplace?
At a family reunion?
Waiting in line at Starbucks?
At your very own dinner table?
Never underestimate that you can be used to share His love.
God’s Love For You Bible Storybook is a hefty, hardcover book heaping with Biblical truths. The rich, full color illustrations will delight your children from cover to cover as they read and learn about everything from Creation to the Return of the King! In addition to the Bible stories are true stories accompanied by photographs of people around the globe. Learn about Albania, Zambia, Uganda and many other places where the work of our Savior is being done to further His Kingdom.
Several hands went into making God’s Love For You Bible Storybook a possibility. It was written by Rich and Renee Stearns with Bible story adaptations by Carolyn Larsen and Illustrations by Martina Peluso. God’s Love For You Bible Storybook is truly a one of a kind compilation, mixing true Bible and contemporary stories in one volume. It is 272-pages long which is plenty to fill an entire homeschool year! God’s Love For You Bible Storybook even includes an attached ribbon bookmark so you don’t lose your place. I also loved the fun facts about the different countries sprinkled throughout the pages, which would be great to use for history and geography lessons. Did you know that India has the highest bridge in the world? I sure didn’t!

Being kind friends, and not being afraid to stand up for what’s right.
Sara Ella says
I think that’s great, Karyn. Standing up for what’s right can be difficult. If we teach our kids to do that from a young age it will make it easier for them as adults.
