One book I have already decided to include and implement into next year’s Bible schedule is Children’s Favorite Bible Stories from Tommy Nelson. It’s jam-packed with all the ingredients needed to cook up a Bible lesson that’s rich in taste and full of texture.
A Woman’s Guide to Reading the Bible in a Year by Diane Stortz
I need a schedule. I need organization. I need simplicity, for goodness sake.
If this is you, look no further than Diane Stortz’s new book, A Woman’s Guide to Reading the Bible in a Year. It’s organized, easy to follow, and best of all you can start at any time! You can use whatever version of the Bible you currently own and you can take each week at your own pace. It comes with a handy, illustrated guide to the books of the Bible, and each week includes a “Share the journey” section so that you can jot down notes, questions, or particular verses that stood out to you. If you follow the daily checklist, you’ll be given about three chapters to read, which Diane says will take about fifteen to twenty minutes. You can take the journey alone or in a group. Whatever you do, you’ll be sure to find this book the solution to your Bible time frustrations.
I Love You to God and Back by Amanda Lamb
I Love You to God and Back by Amanda Lamb is a precious little story about a bunny family getting ready for bed. The bunnies say things like “I love you to my toothbrush and back” and “I love you to the bed and back”. I was smiling the whole way through. My favorite stuffed animal as a girl was a bunny and my girls now have bunnies of their own. We’ve been through a few bunnies in our time and while this book is simply adorable, the bigger message lies beneath the surface: teaching our children to pray.
The End of the World by Matthew Needham
In Matthew Needham’s book The End of the World, he addresses many difficult subjects pertaining to end time prophecy. He provides references, historical background, and most importantly the constant reminder of the need for salvation. He stands by his beliefs and is bold through his writing. Matthew goes against the grain, choosing not to side with the mainstream view of a Pre-tribulation rapture. Instead, he explains why the rapture cannot happen until “the last trump” and provides sufficient evidence to back up this view. Though I did not agree with some of the other interpretations of prophecy he presented, I found his book a great tool for in-depth Bible study.
The Fairest Beauty by Melanie Dickerson
The Fairest Beauty by Melanie Dickerson is a charming retelling of the classic tale of Snow White. Written from a Christian perspective, this novel veers away from the magical elements that are splashed throughout the young adult genre these days, and focuses more on the underlying themes of acceptance, forgiveness, and unconditional love.
” I Love You No Matter What” by J. Rutland
“I Love You No Matter What” is a heartwarming tale for children ages 4-7, written to remind them of a parent’s unconditional love. The sweet illustrations will grab your child’s attention while you share the story’s deeper meaning.
